I don't see where you said whether it was coming from the front or the rear of the coach.

Every "heavy" vehicle I've ever owned, whether talking about our old one ton pickup or any of our three motorhomes, all seemed to have a speed range at which the rear differential would whine or howl. A change in speed or load would change the pitch or make it disappear altogether. It always seemed to be around 45 mph.

Could this be it?

Mine was definitely from the front and was definitely the grill. I had a short list of things to take care of after the first trip and the dealer took care of it. When I picked it up, I asked whether or not they had this issue before - they said that yes, but that Fleetwood knew of it and had been taking care of it. At any rate when I drove it to storage the howling was gone - fixed with sand!

Thanks for the feedback received from everyone. After seeing the original replys about the grill, I decided to "test it" by removing the grill and driving the coach to see if the noise disappeared (and it did). After returning home from the "test", I reinstalled the grill and the noise has mostly gone away without filling with sand. I guess it might have been a little loose and the reinstall did the trick.
