I'd guess the switch would be in the vicinity of the entry door. Look immediately left or right as you're coming in.

Good luck!

Pretty sure there’s no such thing as a wiring diagram available……even in today’s models.
Have either light ever worked?

Different coach than yours , our switch is located immediately above the "salesman switches" by the entry door. There are 3 switches at that location on our Eagle. One is for the lighted door handle, one is for the porch lights and the third turns on the lights above the entry step and the main lights for the "living room".

Thorny68,

Go to the link below and open the folder for a 2003 39L.

We will find all the drawings for your coach.

Not sure on your 2003 Discovery, but on my 2012, there is manual rocker switch within a panel of 4 switches side by side) on the dash near the passenger side that you can flip to turn on the outside lights and step lights including the grab bars.

However, the switch and lights are tied into a main chassis harness behind the dash that feeds those items as well as the key FOB that controls the actuator to lock or unlock the door with the remote. The manual rocker switch to lock and unlock the door from inside is also tied into the same control module.

May or may not be applicable to your 03, but please get back to us when you resolve it.

I have had to replace that control module recently as condensation from the dash AC where Fleetwood mounted it shorted it over time.

that is a very impressive list of drawings. I don't suppose you have a similar list for AC eagles.

For my 2005 Bounder 38N, the door handle light comes on the the porch light switch is on. The set lights come on any time the steps are extended. Check the lightbulb for the steps, my lightbulb was burned out.

Unfortunately, I only have them for the Fleetwood Discovery.

Now, I cannot take credit for all the model years listed as they were obtained and organized by a member of our Discovery Owners Group.

Unless I stand corrected, it is my understanding that a lot of technical drawings were lost in the shuffle when Rev Group took possession of Fleetwoods line of coaches a number of years ago.

On my Discovery the step lights inside & outside along with grab bar lights had been disconnected when I was going thru the entire wiring system.

What I discovered, no pun intended, is that the light on the steps outside was connected to the switch by the door that operated the outdoor patio light, the first interior cabin light in front of coach, and the step control switch.

I call it the step control switch as setting it in up the steps move in/out with door operation. down steps stay out always and if I remember correctly is than control by door operation magnet. Door closed light goes off. This is the same magnetic control the makes the steps go in/out with switch in up position.

Now the ignition key determines operation. If key is off the steps will only stay out if the switch by door is in the up position. If key is on the steps go in/out with door.

for me checking all this nothing worked properly and how I got it to work was mount a large magnet to the door in close proximity to the magnetic control inside the coach close to door/steps with 2 wires running up to switch.

for some reason this quit working without that large additional magnet. The porch light and first enterior light worked however the steps would not operate and outdoor light by steps stopped working.

That was my fix. Something you could easily test with a spare magnet placed by that magnetic detector. Its used to determine if door is open or closed. Be cautious as if it is your issue upon placing magnet there your steps will move and can casue injury.

Of course first step is always test your light bulbs
