Its done all the time in the RV world--but think about it. You are considering buying a 22 year old combination vehicle and house. All the things you would worry about with these things, is what you worry about with an RV this old. First, everything is outdated and replacements maybe scarce and expensive. Roof, plumbing, wiring, appliances, windows and furniture for a start. Then anything made of plastic or rubber. A lot depends on how the RV was cared for, just used or was it abused? Whatever you decide, go into it with your eyes wide open.

Thanks OLE SCOUT I guess I was asking more on a manufacturer end than on a 22 year old coach end. Does American have any specific areas to look far?

It is a dressed-up Fleetwood!
From 2002 to 2006 most of the RV's had drastic changes making the older ones really dated. May even still have a rubber roof. Even engine and transmissions. If a Cat 2002 will have a 3126E maybe 300 or 330 HP. Later 2004 will be C7 at 350HP. Similar changes for Cummins. Just the TV's alone make a difference.

It looks like this is your first RV. My RVs have been in this age range lately. When I was younger, I would just go borrow money and buy new to impress my camping friends. Turned out they didn't really care. Take a really good look at it. Tires, batteries, mileage, does it smell inside? Tires are your biggest concern. Just don't spend your last dollar because there will be things you will want to update on it. So far as model specific I can't help you out. Don't let others scare you away form an Rv just because of the age.
