Is my service department rep full of crap, or are they correct??
So I have a 2014 bounder 35k. My dealer told me not to run the generator while driving to run the AC units. They said it causes problems with the generator, and gave me no specifics! It is getting hot here in Vegas, what is the consensus on this topic?

I live in Pahrump. You must have a AC from your motor just like a car.
I use my AC. Good Luck

Is yours a Bounder Classic with the genset compartment right behind the drivers side front tire?
If so then there could be a potential problem with the unit overheating causing it to boil the fuel in the carburetor and shut down. Due to the mounting location, while driving, a huge negative pocket of pressure is being created around the supply/return air on the Onan 5.5 HGJAB series generators mounted in this position. Fleetwood is very aware of the problem and is attempting to rectify it by either adding sheetmetal shrounds to channel the supply/return cooling air better or upgrading the fuel system from carbureted to fuel injected.
If not, then by all means, run the generator whether parked or driving.

Never heard that before, so I doubt this is a general problem.
What I have heard, and makes sense to me, is that if you run the generator when driving, you might want to look at your air filter more often than otherwise. The idea being that the generator will suck more dusty air through the filter than when you are stationary.

I see you have a 35K. I'm thinking you need to find a new dealer. That's just not the case.

Still, call Fleetwood customer service and ask. We run ours sometimes while driving, but ours is in the front.

We run our generator always while driving, its never off. It just too hot to do otherwise.
Now on to the bigger issue.

Was not aware Fleetwood was having these issues. This is a huge problem with only one fix.

Unforturnatly for those who have this issue, adding shetmetal will not fix the problem or even help it for that matter. However, going to fuel injected certainly will.
Coming from a Thor with this exact issue, and working through it for a couple of years, have tried every solution possible. Only thing that worked was adding additional fuel pump and forcing fuel into the generator. IF anyone is having this problem, I highly suggest going over to the Thor forum and reading all 60+ pages of the trials and tribulations we all suffered working through this issue.
Good Luck!

They are correct and also you should not use your engine while driving on the highway, headlights should not be used when dark out, also it is advised to use gas station rest rooms instead of your onboard toilet. My post might be a bit sarcastic but yes this guy is full of it........ running the Genny for air is one of the main uses that it was designed for. If the manufacturer does come up with a reason that you should not use it then the manufacturer should be making toasters not RVs.
