1) Not familiar with your jacks, but have read some brands retract w/ external SPRINGS? Did you lose/ break one/ more springs? 2) Some have Two external springs/ jack, so if a spring breaks, the other one also flies off along w/ other parts? 3) OTHER brands may retract w/ hydraulic pressure/ valves? You may need to find your book, or search internet by Brand/ Model of the JACKS? 4) If you lost springs, you may have to push up and find a way to TIE/ HOLD them in a retracted position?
