LCD TV removal '06 Pace Arrow
I'm baffled at how Fleetwood (whomever) hung the Sanyo LCD TV in my '06 Pace Arrow. I have to get behind it because we've never had cable TV work. I diagnosed the issue and have concluded that the wiring behind the TV must have fallen off or never been attached. Can anyone explain how this TV is mounted and how I can get to the back of it?
Thanks
Kipmeister

On my 06 Excursion I took off the wood trim in front of the tv and then I could see the brackets and screws holding the tv in place. Good Luck.

No Trim
On this installation, there is no trim piece around the TV opening. The LCD screen appears to be installed by hanging on some kind of railing. There are two stand-off bolts with rubber heads at the bottom that both angle the LCD outward, and keep it from banging against the inner wall of the cavity. There is only 3/8" clearance from the top of the LCD to an upper trim board, so if it is hung, there's not much space to 'lift' the LCD. The upper trim board is nailed in place, not screwed, so I don't think they expect anyone to lift the LCD beyond 3/8". I'm reluctant to lift the LCD because I'm not certain I can reset it properly if it comes out. I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with how these LCD's are mounted. BTW, it was factory installed.
Thanks.

It would surprise me if it's nailed. Call Fleetwood they will help you.

I suppose this is an "over the dash" location. I wanted to get rid of the one in my '08 Providence 40x. I had to buy the longest philips screw driver I could find (2') and cut the handle off. I then put it in my cordless drill, had my son hold the (26") LCD, & I started taking out the screws from each side. Hope this helps. Robbie

Project finished
Thanks for the all the input. We were able to remove the TV by relaxing the stand off bolts, then lifted the TV off the hang rail. Project is complete, and we were able to install another flat screen in our '05 Pace Arrow as well once we figured out how Fleetwood hung them.
BTW, Robbie, did your '08 Providence come with a CRT TV? Or, did you just want another kind of flat screen in it?

It was a 26" Samsung LCD. We just didn't need it, considering we had a 40" mid-ship LCD. So, I took it out, and replaced it w/ the factory door, made my own shelves, and my cradle point router now resides there. BTW, the 26" now has a home in my stick and brick bed room ! Robbie

Kgarvey, when you say you relaxed the bolts, does that mean you turned them in so they're not pushing the TV out as far? I have been meaning to get a different TV up there, one with a larger screen and less of a 'frame' around it.

Kgarvey did you notice there's no insulation on the front cap above the TV. I put a 32" in my 04 and I am going back in there and add some insulation.

I'll try to answer everybody.
Riggarob, that's what I figured. Sure hoped Fleetwood wasn't selling '08 rigs with a CRT in 'em.
lgr869. Yes, I relaxed the bolts in order to be able to lift the LCD up and off the hanger. Had to remove a piece of restrictive trim up top as well. The bolts are there to push the LCD outward so the tv won't bounce around when moving down the road. Once relaxed, the LCD moves back into the cavity and gives you better access to the screws that hold the frame in place.
Pete & Linda: I didn't notice that. I'm unsure whether or not additional insulation is needed, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to put some in there. I added a 3/4" plywood mounting board in the cavity and put the TV steel mount on it. Then hung the TV on the mount. I had to add the 1/4-20 stand off bolts with rubber tips to 'push' the LCD forward so it would travel better down the road. It fits perfect with the existing frame, and leaves about 4" under the TV where I put the remotes and such. I got the smallest TV mount I could find, but still had to trim off about one inch from each end so it would fit correctly.
