Looking for Discovery 40G suggestions

I own a 2010 Disco 40g. We have the bunk option as most 40g owners probably do. In any event, the kids are all grown now, and they rarely come with us anymore. So I am considering making the bunk area more useful. Has anyone converted the area into something more useful than a big storage area? Let me hear the suggestions. I love this coach, and I see no reason to sell it and start a whole new sequence of depreciation on a new coach. I feel it will be cheaper to just drop some money and time into this unit and modify it. My coach is in perfect shape even at 90K miles.

We just bought a new Discovery 40G and our kids are 13 and 11 so we will be looking at this down the road also. I am figuring that I can set it up as a Desk/Office area to make it easier to set and pay bills or work on the computer. Well that may change later down the road but thats what I thought would be a good use of the area.

Looking at your forum name, I was just wondering if you own an 03 Goldwing. If so that is pretty funny as I own an 03 GL1800A as well. I guess like minds think alot. When I bought my 2010 40G, my kids were 17-13. Now the 2 older ones are off in college and beyond, and the the youngest doesn't like sleeping in the bunks but rather on the couch. Enjoy them while they still like to travel as they grow real fast (like you haven't already figured that out.)

In any event I was thinking about an office desk and making the top bunk flip up so that I still have one extra bed for that occasional sleepover. I would love to find out if there is a way to take out the wall between the bunk room and the living area to really open up the whole area.

Yes, I have a 2003 GL1800 with a 2 seat Champion Sidecar for the kids. I ride most of the time without the sidecar but have it for trips with the kids along. I also have a 2004 VTX1800.

I do not think you be able to remove the wall as the slideout roof would probably sag as the wall is also a support for the ceiling/roof. I am not an engineer but I would bet that the span is too long for the material used in the roof. May want to talk to Fleetwood about that.
