Motorhome Specialist 5411 S Interstate 35 W, Alvarado, TX 76009

We just purchased our new 2018 Bounder 35P from Motorhome Specialist. Overall I think this was our best experience in the five motorhomes we have owned throughout our life. (We did almost everything via the phone although we said we would never do again )

The price we finalized on the Bounder was very good although we were a little disappointed on our trade in value but that is the RV business.

We came in on Thursday night and stayed in their small campground, purchased our vehicle on Friday and stayed for two days where we transferred everything from one coach to the other and we went through the rig to find any items that needed correcting before we left. (If we had come in earlier in the week we would have had more time for the crew to go through the coach.) Since they were closed on Sunday, we decided to a campground a couple of hours away to get acquainted with the new home away from home.

I must add, the maintenance team was great. For the two days we were there, they came out and fixed what we found on the spot. Our thanks to Matt, Chris, Roy, Travis and anyone I may have forgotten. They were always helpful, kind and very attentive to our requests.

Overall only a couple of minor issues left to resolve (not bad when purchasing an RV and we have a coach we absolutely love without spending a fortune.

I highly recommend purchasing your next RV through them. Lonnie our salesman was very helpful as was Matt and all the guys. There is a huge Fleetwood service center close by and Motorhome Specialist are going to build a huge service center of their own soon. Albeit 4.5 hours from our house, it was well worth the drive.

We may try to find someone closer to do any warranty work that comes up but overall we had great experience which isn't always easy to say when purchasing an RV.

It's great to hear a positive report on a dealer! Thank you.

We bought a consignment from them in 2013. It too was a positive experience for us.

I'm particularly pleased you are pleased with their service. Few dealers get positive reviews! We never have used dealers for service.

The Fleetwood factory service center satellite next door to MHSRV has gained generally positive reviews. We may use them in the future, but for now we do most house stuff ourselves and have an annual Freightliner appointment in Gaffney SC for chassis maintenance.

Thanks again for your positive report!

They didn't get a positive review from me
90 day warranty on their work, so even if you've not tested everything before then, too bad !
and that's IF they really tried to fix something - I've got 3 of the 5 items I gave them they didn't fix and had the coach for over a month.

As I said, Alvarado "has gained generally positive reviews". Initially, there were a number of negative reviews. Not surprising--I understand they kept most of Ancira's techs and, when that was an Ancira dealership, I never heard a positive comment at that time (I had a bad experience trying to buy a coach there and never went back).

However, some techs were sent to Decatur for training, and a number came down from Decatur to retrain the others (and a few moved there). Plus new managers came in. I'm sure it all takes time to upgrade.

Alvarado will never match Decatur, if only because most techs in Indiana also have factory experience, and the major parts depot is in Decatur. So Alvarado will always be slower, plus servicing there will incur shipping expense for any parts not in stock.

The other factor I've seen may also reflect customer attitudes and treatment of service personnel. I watched one guy bellyache constantly in Decatur, and I'm sure nobody there felt like putting out a full effort for him.

I'm not going to defend Alvarado since I've no experience there. But if, as in Decatur, they permit you to stay with your coach there, that is another way to ensure all gets done properly. Because I am always with the coach in Decatur (4 times, 4 different years), I think the techs are more conscientious. That shouldn't have to be so, and not everyone would be able to do so, but it is one more step to ensure things are done properly.

And, of course, not every repair will be done satisfactorily. Stuff happens. We wipe our brow, pull up our pants, and get on with life.
