New member from Sask, Canada with issues

Hello. We just purchased our first motorhome, a 1999 fleetwood discovery 37v. On the drive home medicine cabinet fell off wall and broke the mirrors, thats an easy fix, hoever now i can't get the 6500 onan generator to start. It turns over ok just won''t fire. Previous to that no start, it would start but then shut down after a few minutes. The control panel in the rv shows 2 gas level indicators. One for the appliances and the other for the generator, however i'm not sure which is which. They are 3/4 full and 1/4 full. Oil seems to be in range on the dipstick. I have read obout the regulator vent tube possibly being plugged and will check tomorrow. Does anyone know where exactly i will find it on the generator? Any other advice will be appreciated. Thx greg

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new rig.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good info to share. If your fuel level is at 1/4 or less many generators will not fire.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

thx for the replies. Perhaps the best course of action is to fill up the tank first before i try anything else. btw does anyone know if you able to tap in a bbq propane tank into the fill on the MH just to see if low gas is the issue?

Reka, yes its a propane generator. By professional help are you referring to someone to look at the generator or for myself for purchasing a motorhome with a propane generator.
