New RV'er questions
Hey guys and gals, new to rv'ing and just picked up my first ever rv today!
I found a 2001 Southwind 32V that has the ford chassis and has been very well taken care of. Looking forward to many good times. I was just wondering if any of you have had this model or have this model and if there were any particular things that I should be aware of. Everything seems to be in good working order, I just have a ton to learn, which i'm looking forward to. Thanks for your help!

Just plop into a comfortable chair the first time you go out and get well aquainted with the owners manual

After you have memorized the manual, check out the individual manuals for all the equipment on board. Most RV manuals are very general in nature and won't be much help when it comes to specifics...the manuals by Dometic, Onan, Atwood, Norcold, etc will be a big help.

If something worked yesterday and it is not working today, then 98% of the time it is a blown fuse or a tripped breaker, or a tripped ground fault outlet. You should learn where the 12v fuses, circuit breakers, and GFI devices are located. You can not run all the electrical devices at the same time without popping something. Join FMCA and then a local chapter you will have loads of fun and learn lots about the rv life style.

As suggested, read the owners manuals and learn where everything is located.
On any RV, watch for leaks, and keep ahead of roof leaks. Inspect the roof seals twice a year on the Fleetwood products. Also check the windows fro proper sealing.
We had a 1989 Pace Arrow and the only thing that leaked more water than it was a sieve.

My wife and I have an 05 Southwind, love the coach and the layout.
I'm sure as you go you'll find it's glitches and all motorhomes have them, some more than others!
Good luck with it and many happy miles

There are a number of maintenance items to check on your new to you Southwind. Among those things should be to check the tire dates on each of your six tires as well as checking the tire pressure. Another item would be to check the age of your brake fluid and transmission fluid. If they have never been changed, I would suggest changing the brake fluid and having the trans fluid checked. Since RVs sit for long periods of time, things like belts and hoses can deteriate just due to age. Enjoy your new coach.
