Newbie questions

Hello all. Last Tuesday I purchased a sweet 2002 Eagle and I love it. Drove it 1250 miles home, ran like a top. I began to dig through all the included paperwork and have yet to find answers to four questions I suspect are very simply answered by those in the know. 1) What does the switch in the attached picture do? 2) The keyless entry unlocks the cabin door but does not lock it. What am I doing wrong? 3) Regarding the interior step cover, the owners manual just says I need air pressure, which I have plenty of at key off or key on, but it only retracts with the engine running. Is this normal? 4) Does that step cover have a safety device that prevents it from cutting your foot off if you leave it in the slide path? That thing is crazy fast!. Thank you in advance.

Update: Thanks to old posts on this website, I figured out that the switch is for the "air door lock", cool I guess. Also as of today, the step cover works without the engine running. No idea why, but it works. Still curious about the remote keyless entry that will not lock and the very fast step cover. Thanks in advance.

I have had the air operated step cover in the past.
I seem to recall an adjustable throttle valve back in behind the cover.
may have been part of the solenoid valve.
the one i have now is electric and its slower than molasse.

We have that same step cover, and ours is also very fast. When we bought the coach, the salesman told me that once he had been standing on the steps when someone flipped the switch, and he ended up with two bloody knees and got knocked off the step. Just be careful.
