NHTSA recall 09V056000 (battery cable routing on certain 07-08 MY Fleetwood diesel MH

NHTSA recall 09V056000 (battery cable routing on certain 07-08 MY Fleetwood diesel MHs).

See Recall Results : ODI - Office of Defects Investigation

The NHTSA post shows a Mfr's Report Date of FEB 12, 2009 and says the recall is "expected to begin in March, 2009". Well, we're 3/4 the way through April 2009, So I made an appointment with my dealer to resolve it.

Delivered the coach yesterday. Dealer (Service Department) hadn't heard about the recall. My Service Adviser (SA) called someone at Fleetwood. Whoever he spoke with professed no knowledge.

I left the coach as the SA said he'd look further.

I called Fleetwood Customer service today to see if I could get some information. The fellow I spoke with told me he was aware, but Fleetwood has yet to decide when they want to officially release the recall information. He had no clue of when that might be.

In the course of our conversation, he mentioned that Fleetwood was now under Chapter 11 protection. I hadn't heard that before. I did notice this morning that the Fleetwood stock symbol has changed, yet again. Maybe it has something to do with the Chapter 11 filing.

Called my SA today and told him what I'd found. There is nothing to be done until the recall is formally announced, so I'll pick up my coach tomorrow.

Since the recall has to do with a battery cable routed from the left side of the coach to the right side and makes the crossing in the vicinity of the drive shaft, and if your coach falls in the model/maufactured date range, you might do yourself a favor by having a look now rather than wait for the recall to be formally announced.

That's my plan after I get my coach back.

Steve

Steve if you work under your coach to tie that cable out of drive shaft way use some jack stands in case your chassis drops with you under it.
We lost one member when he was under his.
