No power from auxillary batteries for interior lights

2005 Fleetwood Terra has new auxillary batteries, but will not operate any of the interior lights. Works fine when plugged into AC power. All fuses are good. Is there a procedure for getting them to work? My husband used to take care of all this, but he died and now I am in the dark about this motorhome.

Look for a Batery Disconnect or Use/Store switch near the entry door.

It needs to be on.

I have a friend with a 2004 Fleetwood and his battery disconnect is in a cabinet over the entry door.

If the lights work fine when connected to AC power, doesn't that mean the disconnect is "on" or would the inverter be bypassing the batteries and the disconnect somehow?

If you just had the batteries replaced and the lights were working before new batteries, I would suggest the batteries were not properly connected. the batteries do not power the lights directly, the inverter (converts AC to DC) and the batteries are tied to this. So this would be why it works when AC is connected or Generator is running and not on batteries alone.
there is a specific way to wire them in 'series-parallel' for correct operation.
