OEM Magnadyne 9900CDS Wiring Harness Colors

Like many others, my OEM Magnadyne 9900CDS AM/FM, CD, Sirius Enabled Radio in my 2007 Southwind has stopped working correctly.

I've spoken with a Magnadyne tech who said it is kaput and that I should just splice the replacement radio wiring harness into the Magnadyne one that also plugs into the Southwind (F53 chassis) wiring harness.

I'm okay with soldering the individual wires and my new radio, Sony CDX GT660UP, has all the wire colors listed in the manual but....they don't match the wire colors on the Magnadyne harness.

On the Magnadyne radio head there is a sticker which lists the color assignments however they don't match the wires on their harness

Now the new radio has 14 wires and the old harness has 11. I suspect the 3 extra wires on the new one which I don't need to match a match for are the power antenna, wire for remote control and the orange 'illumination' wire. I'm assuming the new radio will still have a light in it without having this illumination wire.

Anyone changed out their Magnadyne and come across this wiring dilemma?

I'm considering called Fleetwood with my ID tomorrow to see if they might have a correct schematic for this harness? The Magnadyne harness does have a label around the wires saying Fleetwood with a number on it.

Thanks in advance Ron

Solved

Should anyone else, in the future, need this information. Fleetwood customer were very courteous and willing to help however the wiring schematic they emailed was not correct.

I phoned Magnadyne and spoke to Mark the tech. He too was very helpful AND knew exactly what the problem was. He confirmed that the the harness the motorhome manufacturers use to connect the their chassis harnesses are NOT made by either of them and you CANNOT go by the text description on each wire OR the colors for the correct assignment.

Mark made sure I had made a diagram of the same connector that was on my OEM Magnadyne and then told me which pin was for which connection so I could correctly splice the new aftermarket radio harness into the Magnadayne one.

FYI

Ron
