Old King satellite dome needs replacing ? or not ?

O.K. guys, this is certainly not model specific, but since we just acquired our 2004 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 37c, I thought I would post our question here.

Our coach came with a 24" "king semi automatic" dome, set up for Direct TV, and flat screen CRT, TV's, + a Panasonic VHS tape player and a Panasonic 5 disk video player. Typical 2004 technology. Here comes the question.........

What did you do to bring your system into the new century, without breaking the bank ?

I could live with the TV's and the disk player, but the tape has got to go, and I don't know what to do about the dome.

I found the model and serial number sticker but it is not legible so no numbers to post here without pulling the dome off, and looking inside. It is about 24" across and has 2 leads coming out.

Info update... It appears to be a model 9630, so I down loaded the manual and it seems to need a remote to plug in lat / lon to find the satellite per their charts. Now to find the remote..... Seems like a PIA for today's tech.

Thanks in advance for your help.....

That dome is just a windbreak now. Even if you got it working, it won't receive anything. My auto Kingdome on my 08 needs to come off one day.

Remove the dome and hardware. Seal the mounting and co-axle holes with Eternabond tape. Tuck the cabling into the hole in the roof. Get a portable satellite dish, the small white ball looking things that I don't remember the name of, and enjoy your TV. You will always be able to get a signal, unlike the one on the roof.
Fill the dome with water and set it out for a bird bath. Just kidding, that only works in Red-neck country.

As rvbiker45 commented, remove it and use it for an anchor or something. Go into the thread that talks about tech stuff and you might find more help. Lots of folks with roof mounts have difficulty getting a satellite when they’re under trees. Lots of folks are doing better with streaming now. Even here in the classified section under odds and ends you find portable sat systems with receiver and stuff at reasonable prices. I’d swap out the old tv for flat screen and get a DVD player. One of my favorite places to look for stuff is goodwill or Salvation Army. The old tv and player wiring is probably ok. Good luck and keep us posted.

I took ours off. The original installer used regular metal screws and not stainless. The screws rotted. The holes leaked. The Kingdome was obsolete.
So now the DW plans on using the base for a plant starter--after I plugged the holes.
I fought those leaks for two years until I finally concluded that the only place leakage could occur was under the dome and, it turns out, the cable anchors.

I know you all are right . 2004 technology, and not worth the effort to adapt.
In our old coach, a Jayco Seneca 33ss, I mounted a Wineguard dome, and pulled the Direct TV receiver from the house and took it along with us. That combo worked fine.

I guess I'm now in the market for another dome. As for the TV's, I have yet to see if they still work. Maybe I could sell the DW on the idea of new flat screens as a "weight savings" move.

With the price of relative small screen tv’s 24”-32” being 150 bucks or sometimes less dump the old tube tv’s .. they can’t receive any Chanel’s anyway. Mount a plywood panel across the opening to mount the flat screen on and if you hinge the plywood , you gain a new bonus storage space!
If you have access to the roof while your on the road , I’d get a dome with a roof mount near the ladder. You can quickly release the dome from the bracket . Best of both worlds. Dome stored and used on the roof normally but removable if your under trees.
