Onan Generator in Bounder

I have a question for hose of you that have a generator setup like mine. I have a 1998 Bounder 36s with an Onan Marquis 5500. I just recently had to reattach the governor linkage rod to the governor arm. This is located close to the top middle and under the cover of the genny. Fortunately I have small hands and was able to slightly force-lift the top after removing the front screws. This could have been a major problem just to get to a simple reattachment. Is there any way to access the top and back areas without having to drop the generator?

I'm thinking the generator should be on a sliding tray. Look at the attachment frame on the bottom, there are usually clips/pin/bolt system that can be released and the unit slid forward for service, at least somewhat. All coaches are different though.

Some are on rollers, some just sit there. Either way it usually involves removing something you dont want to, like the exhaust.

Here is a video of a similar gen being removed:

Fast Forward to about the 3 minute mark if you want to see how he does it.

Did you install a zip tie to keep the clip from coming loose again? This is a common problem with the Onan's. Believe it or not access to the generator is better on Fleetwood than many other manufacturers. Most (If not all) gas generators are not on slideouts. It is common to have slideouts on diesels. On some generators the generator frame is bolted to the mount frame on the motorhome and you can remove the bolts in the inside or outside of the generator and tilt the generator forward or backward as needed.
