Onboard compressor

It seems that my onboard compressor tops out at 80PSI. The front and rear airbag guages both say 120+ but through the external fitting I can only get 80PSI.

All of the compressors I've seen have an output pressure regulator, and most of those are adjustable. Am I just not looking in the right place for the adjustment knob?

Thanks,
MP

In Front

If your Discovery is anything like my Bounder there is an air manifold to the left of the generator (Facing towards the rear of the MH). Kind of on the firewall in front of the passenger seat. You'll see a plastic line that looks to be about 1/2 inch going in and one which probably go to the airbags.

See attached pic. I circled it for ya'

I have to stop by storage tomorrow to drop some stuff off, and I will take a look for it. If it is the same I will head to my favorite shop to get a hose and gauge and see what kind of pressure I can get.

Thanks

I have an 07 Bounder diesel also. I have tried to use the the air supply for the tires and it does not work. I called Fleetwood a long time ago to ask about using the air supply for the tires and they said it was not designed for inflating tires. It seems to me that if the system can provide 120 to the air system then we should be able to use it for tires. I carry a compressor in the bay.

Emergency Use?

My 08 Providence came with an air hose with the chuck to fit the outlet in the generator compartment. I think it maybe puts out 120 psi if you catch it when the compressor just cycles. I find I need about 160 psi to air up the tires to 120psi to overcome the tire valves? It would probably be OK for emergency or for bicycle tires or the ones on your toad.

I know some folks figure out how to air tires from their on-board compressors, but I have found this purchase to be worth its weight in gold:

Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more

This unit is small, light and with a 30 foot extension cord you can air up every tire easily.

When I use my on board compressor and I fill my front tires to 110psi I have the wife tap the brakes to bleed off air pressure as Iam filling the tires. This keeps the air compressor running as it will shut off and cycle when it reaches your air bag pressure then you are just using the tank pressure. I can fill my front tires to 110psi and rears to 90psi with no problem. I also got an air hose and air chuck supplied when I bought my motorhome. When I bought my motorhome the dealer showed my where the air connector was and how to use it to fill tires.
