Out with the old TV

I had to replace my sound system, the original system finally broke down and quit working. I wasn't going to change my TV but when I upgraded to a new Sony receiver and Sony blu ray player the old TV wouldn't work with this setup. For anyone interested the TV I used was this one Insignia 29" Class 2812" Diag. LCD 720p 60Hz HDTV DVD Combo NS-29LD120A13 - Best Buy. I had to take the back cover off and move the side mounted control buttons so they would not interfere with the mounting. The TV fit perfectly over the top edge of the console. Once the outer trim was in place and screwed down the TV is more secure now than the original one was. I used 3" screws to put the outer trim face back on. My plan is to use a router and cut an edge for the TV to sit in once I have a little more time. You can see a gap at the top and a bigger gap at the bottom. The bottom gap will make for a perfect place to put the Direct TV control box.

I think I might be able to get a couple more MPG's on the weight I'm now saving.

I really like this head unit. It also has a hookup for an Ipod/Iphone. Sound quality is very good throughout the coach.

I did a very similar installation but I mounted the frame on a piano hinge on one side and installed two latches on the other so I can swing open the tv to easly gain access behind. I installed a ply shelf on the bottom of the opening and carpeted the shelf for the dvd sorroundsound combo.

Our 1997 had an old Quasar. Ditched it and built a cabinet for the maps, guides, etc.
