Outdoor Kitchen

A few of the coaches we have looked at have the outdoor kitchen, but some do not. Has anyone added this after the fact? I have done a google search, but have not come up with much. Perhaps my terminology is incorrect?

At any rate, I like the thought of the outdoor kitchen (particularly the sink and fridge), but don't want it to be a show stopper. Particularly if I can buy it and have it installed afterwards.

Thanks

I'm working out plant to make a teppanyaki grill in one of my basement doors. A small fridge would be no problem but a sink ? Down that low it would be below the gray tank.

Head Gamez - I am also interested in the replies from those that have added the outdoor kitchen - BBQ grill option, after the fact. I looked at the Fleetwood parts website and could not find anything listed.

I believe the sink has a pump that pumps to the grey tank. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find much info and that is why i asked about it.

algolfer...

I am headed out early tomorrow on a south east tour to look at a few coaches. I am leaving in the morning and heading from central NC to Knoxville TN area. If that doesnt work out, then I am headed to Florida to look at one. Finally, I will stop in South Carolina on the way home to look at another. Lots of driving the next few days.

The one in FL has the outdoor kitchen, so if I make it there, then I will snap some good pictures and at least get an understanding of how it works. Once I get back, I will share my findings (and pictures) with the forum.

Not meaning to stomp on the parade, but an outdoor kitchen is either close to or inside of a bay or a swing-out cabinet. They do look nifty! Cooking makes smoke and splatters and fumes, and even canola oil will give off a very light mist to coat the surroundings and also waft into doors and windows.

I have a man-cave cooking bay. The Weber gas grill, hibachi charcoal grill, and Coleman stove are in the bay. I bring my stuff out to a table away from my rig, make my messes, clean up, and stash it.

Just sayin.....

You could use a pump to pump Gray water back up to the top of the tank

That is precisely why I am not so interested in the grill. The sink and fridge have caught my eye though.

Camp Daven - good point. Since I've only used my stand alone BBQ'ers never thought of the negative side to the built in stuff. Always good to hear the positives and negatives!!

I agree the fridge and sink are nice eye candy, but the space and weight thing has held me back, and DW handing a few things out from the fridge has done well for a lot of years. And hand sanitizer and paper towels have been enough without more plumbing.

If you get the big MH, a mini fridge on the slide out tray will do you well. Heck, even a small freezer! They are both cheap.

Me? I dont have room for any of it.

I have the Discovery 40x with the outdoor kitchen, tv and radio. I moved up from a 34' bounder with the basements full and with the 40x and kitchen I still have plenty of basement room so I do not feel bad about taking up the space. The kitchen unit is motorized, has outlets, sink, drain pump, fridge, cabinets which the grill hook hooks on the front of. The grill can use the coach's LP or small canister LP. The bracket mechanism that you put the grill on and hangs on the bracket on the cabinet, also attaches to the grill in a way that makes it a stand for a table (if you want to move it out from under the canopy). The counter space comes in real handy, the cabinet for towels, plates etc helps and the sink makes for quick clean up. My biggest concern is that there is not a lot of room to keep the fridge door open to dry out when done using and pwr is off and basement door closed but I have made it work with a small board in the door. I agree that his is not for everyone but it is great for tailgating and general use. Sometimes I still set up another grill out from under the canopy to cook my burgers and then I cook dogs on the cabinet grill (therefore not much mess or smoke). There are a lot of times that I have the kitchen out and don't use the grill with it. It came with the camper so I am not sure I would have ordered one but it is nice to have. I have attached a picture.

I also have the same coach and setup as JRGREEN!
I have to tell you that it is amazing and works great! I am a little anal when it comes to my coach as some of you know and I have never had any splatters or film on the side of my coach.....ever.
I find that all the stainless steel is easy to clean and looks awesome!
Hey JR! I fold a piece of cardboard to keep my fridge vented when shutdown. lol

Reminds me a little bit of the 'outdoor shower' that we all have - anybody ever taken a shower out there??
