Plastic Cargo Latch Broken - Cannot Open Door

Broke another latch last weekend, this time the latch is broken on the inside, and I cannot open the door! The compartment is isolated from others, so I cannot reach in from the adjacent compartment. I am thinking that the way to get into it is to lift the handle and then try to reach in between the doors with something and push the broken part clear of the catch attached to the chassis.

Thoughts or advice on this from anyone who has solved this issue?

This is the 3rd or 4th latch to break, so I am replacing all the remaining plastic ones this weekend with metal ones from MotorhomeLatches.com. Wish I had done this sooner, live and learn.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Are you slamming closed or pulling handle closing then release.

Not slamming, push to latch with my knee.

Did you have any answers to my questions?

Really a known problem. There a company that makes a replacement and the plunger is made of nylon, and or alumn. That solved my problems. Do a couple web searches you should be able to find them. Safe Travels

I replaced all the remaining plastic latches yesterday. Was able to open the adjacent door and reach the tang to release the latch.

Should not have this issue again!!
