Power Cord Reel

We purchased a 2013 Discovery 40G this spring and really like it. One of the useful features is a power rewind on the power cord reel. Unfortunately, there is no level wind on the reel and the cord tends to overfill the center of the reel and bind. I've tried to 'steer' the cord while winding it but keep getting my fingers pinched in the cord. Before starting a search for a solution I want to know what others have already tried. Has anyone already solved this problem?

Do not know of a solution other than "Wear gloves" and guide more carefully (How I do my 100' long wire antenna)

One word of caution though

When you go to plug in,, Pull ALL the cord out .. Even if you only need a couple feet to reach the post PULL IT ALL OUT and do not coil it up on the ground, Snake it instead

Or use one very large coil. Coiled cords overheat far too easily.

I also have a power cord reel. I find that if I just hold the switch in, it reels too fast and does the same. I have learned to just bump the switch repeatedly a few times to take it up more slowly and it spools much more evenly.
