Power gear 359351 jacks

I just removed rear power gear 359351 jacks hoping that I could rebuild them. No luck with that seeing both ends are welded to the cylinder. Hydraulic shop want $2000 to rebuild. $2500 for new, Lippert. I thought for the difference of $500 I would get new. Seeing the existing cylinders were going to the junk pile, why not try to cut the end off, piston end. Two hours later ends were off and all seal visible after pulling piston/rod out of cylinder. I cut the caps in the center of the weld joint maybe 1/8” deep to release the cap. New seals $125. My grandson will tig weld the caps back on. Should be as good as new.

Well done on your DIY repair.
I can't understand why the hydraulic shop didn't want the work.
My shop here does it for about 100 bucks an hour plus parts. Also, they are fast.
