PS Fluid Type 1998 AMERICAN dream on Spartan chassis with 8.3 Cummins ISC

Hi,,

Looking to change out the filter (s) and then top up the fluid in the big hydraulic PS canister in our 1998 American Dream coach … it has Spartan chassis with a Cummins 8.3 ISC .

What type of hydraulic PS fluid is required .. the existing fluid has a red tinge and looks like transmission fluid but looking for confirmation and specific type.

Thanks for info! The Spartan chassis manual indicates aw 32 or 46; but that’s a generic chassis manual and doesn’t indicate the year. Just confused, just don’t want to put in the wrong fluid.

Dave, have you ever removed and cleaned/replaced the flow control valve on the manifold block? Our American Dream is barely steerable at low RPM, but quite normal higher RPM. We are hoping that replacing the canister filter and cleaning the valves may solve the issue, before tackling the pump. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Koal
