Rear view camera help

I have the B/W Weldex monitor on my 02 Southwind. It works great when it wants to. While driving the image will just go out. I can turn the power off and right back on and the image comes right back. I checked the connections at the camera and it's all good. Seems to me like something is shorting out?? Anyone with a similar issue? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You've come to the right guy.
My Voyager-78 was much newer than yours; intermittent then went out completely. It was the monitor and I found someone who, if you shipped to him would check iit out and let you know if it was worth repairing.

Call them and they might do Weldex also.
I'm replacing the system with a wireless system and will let you know what success I have; should be a few days until I set it up.
It's actually cheaper than the Voyager system, if it works well.

This is a common problem with the Weldex. If you have already checked the connection at the camera and the problem is unchanged, it is likely the camera. As stated, you can send in the camera alone to RV Cams and they will check it and call you with their recommendations. I put up with the same problem for years and regret not fixing it sooner. Trust them, they are good ole boys in Louisiana.

My Weldex went from bad to worse over a period of a couple of seasons. I cleaned all of the connection points and then used a di-electric grease at these points. Also sealed up any possible point of access for moisture with silicone sealant at the cameras. I did this just before leaving Fl. for home this Spring. I had no problems what so ever...all cameras worked 100% of the trip!!! I don't know if I was just lucky or what...can't knock success.

I had the same problem with my Weldex. I removed the camera & plug directly into the monitor & it didn't work (bad camera). So, I order a new Voyager system from RV Cam & replaced the whole system. Best move I ever made. I still have the old Weldex monitor if anybody wants it!

countrypair, did you run new cable from the back of the coach or use existing?

No, I did not replace the cable. The cable was fine. The new system came with a new cable, but I didn't need it. If you order a new system without the cable it will save you $52.00 dollars. As an aside, the new system I purchased from RV Cam, also allows me to add side cameras in the future. If I knew how to post pictures of the system, I would.
