I own a 2013 Fleetwood Bounder 35k. Recently water has been leaking into my RV from under my refrigerator. I got up on the roof to see if I could find the leak. I inspected the vent cover for my Dometic refrigerator. I saw the screw holes were attempted to be sealed by silicone but were not completely sealed. I sealed the screw holes but still had the leak when it rained. I also noticed water would not leak across the floor if the RV was leveled. When not leveled in my driveway it leans to the drivers side. The refrigerator is on the passenger side. I was not sure whether leveling prevented the water from entering the RV or the water merely ran straight down the wall.
I then removed the refrigerator vent cover on the roof and put more sealant around the vent. After a rain it leaked again. Each time I discovered a leak I would level the RV and would not see water running across the floor. By the way I found it is much easier to put black gorilla
tape over the screw holes on the vent cover to seal them. It works, its is easier to install and it is easier to remove. On the vent cover there are holes built in along the vent cover to let the gas exhaust out. Today before a forecasted rain I took the black gorilla tape and cover those holes. After the rain there was no water in the RV. It looks like this is a design defect in the Dometic vent cover.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to resolve this? I don't want to leave the tape on and take a risk of carbon dioxide from accumulating in the RV.

Please post a picture of your vent cover as it's installed on the roof. Something is amiss.

It may be your drain tube is clogged ( common reason for finding water under refrigerator ).

Or just broken and gone altogether.

I could not get up on my RV to take a picture. I found a website with an identical picture of my vent cover at Dometic Refrigerator Roof Vent Cap and Base New Style 3311236 It only leaked when it rained and was not leveled. Where it is parked it is not so unlevel that any wheel would leave the ground to level it. In the picture you can see a row of vent holes. To see if the water was coming into the vent holes I covered the line of vents holes on both sides of the cover to see if that would stop the water when it rained. It did stop the water so I believe the rain is coming in the vent holes when the RV is not leveled. I guess my question would be is does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement for my vent cover.

As far as the drain tube and the operation of the refrigerator. All water has leaked in while parked in my driveway in the last month without the refrigerator being operated at all.

You may want to call FW. They have a great CS dept. 800-322-8216. Is your MH out of the one year warranty period ?

I will follow up are you suggestion. It is out of warranty. If the water comes in the vent holes then surely they have faced this problem.

There's lots of those vents in use. I've never run across one that had water leak in through the vent lid.

Talked to Fleetwood CS. They have not heard of this problem. If rain was coming in the vent holes I would assume others would have had this same problem. When a warm day comes around I am going to use a water hose to make sure the water is not coming it somewhere else as suggested by Fleetwood.

In the meantime, I'd suggest taking the cover off the exterior wall vent and make sure that the clear plastic vent tube doesn't have a kink or a blockage. Never hurts to check! Good luck.
