Replace flooring cover

One more from us,

We are thinking of replacing the carpeting in our 2004 fleetwood excursion. Any suggestions? I talked to our local flooring guy. He said he could do it. They to move the couch, loveseat and dining booth.

Thanks

I believe it is typical to remove the furniture for new flooring. Sounds like the local guy knows what he's doing. Good luck.

Make sure your flooring guy knows how to handle the fact that the slides will have to move across it.

Best of luck.

What type of flooring are you going with, tile, wood, etc. We would like to do the same thing in our 2003 PA.

We used Allure vinyl planking which was super easy to install, just use a box cutter. The problem it is soft, because my slide uses skids not rollers or suspened, it was going to scratch it. So I had to make adjustments to the skids. If I had to do over, I would use a very hard surface lamimate.

Is there room under the skids to apply those stick-on felt pads used to protect wood floors?

you can use the vinyl planks under the slide as a cheaper alternative to slide slickers

We're thinking about replacing the carpet also. home depot recently showed on TV a new laminate flooring. The top surface was Porcelain Tile. snap together like the Allure flooring. But the surface being Porcelain it should be virtually bullet proof. Grouting is part of the tile so no extra grouting to do or come loose in future. Not Cheap but with only a 40 ft MH it may be worth looking at. Safe travels..ed

if you go with commercial carpet- don't put residential pad in there, I recommend a 3/8 - 8 -10 pound density pad.

Yes there is room, but felt did not hold up at all. I removed the nylon skids and replaced with much longer and wider wood blocks. Then I attached carpet to those.

With only five 4 inch skids and only maybe 1/4 inch width on a 16x3 ft slide, the weight per square inch is just too great. Stick on felt would not stay in place nor adhere well to nylon. There was and still is an issue if sand is on the floor when you move the slide. If it isn't clean, the Allure will soon get scratches. Apparently my era PowerGear slide puts most weight on the interior skids.
