Replace Radio

The radio in our 35e has finally died. The MH documents fail to include any information and online research shows this radio is a Megadyne. I want to replace it but need some advice. Does anyone know if this is a 1 DIN or 2 DIN unit or is it somewhere in between? Will a auto radio fit? Any suggested model?

Most MH radios are double din. If yours is 4 or more inches tall, that's what you have.

BTW, Camping World installs replacement radios and speakers.(others do too)

Did you try the Megadyne web site? I just checked and they have a number of RV radios available.

sangre-

The Magnadyne radio in my 2008 coach is a 1.5 DIN unit. This is a hard-to-find size. Magnadyne offers a cover plate kit (link here) for those who convert down to a single-DIN unit.

Manuals for the Magnadyne M9900 1.5 DIN radios are at this link.

I believe that Magnadyne units M2 and later are double-DIN. Some (M3/M4?) have an offset faceplate that may allow mounting in some 1.5 DIN holes. Here's a link to Magnadyne's current offerings.

Of course, depending on how much you're willing to modify the mounting and wiring, you have your pick of replacement units from all the usual manufacturers.

I replaced the Magnadyne in my 2008 Bounder 35E with a Soney single din. I used the Magnadyne adapter kit. It was a easy swap, the kit show step by step how to do it including wiring,
