Replaced battery now problems

1994 southwind, replaced engine battery, because it was apparently dead. Now the radio is not lighting up or working and the chirpy chirp alarm system(?) when I turn vehicle off does not chirpy chirp. Is there something I am supposed to reset after battery is replaced? This is third thread, having headacheyyy problems driving me nuts. please help.

thanks so much

The radio or the alarm system could have shorted out causing your battery drain and one knocking the other out. Check the power coming to the radio. If you have power there that will tell you the radio is shot. There could be a blown inline fuse that works both. It is hard to get to the wiring but you will definitely have to trace power to both accessories that are not working. Hope you get it worked out

Make sure there is not a wire that was not connected to the new battery. Also check fuses for the items not working, arcing a battery cable upon installation can blow fuses.

If they were working before the new battery that is about all that could have gone wrong by just replacing the battery.

There should be at least two large cables connected to the positive terminal on your battery.
  • One to the starter
  • One to the BCC (Battery Control Center) nearby
  • Possibly a third if you have levelers
Check to make sure the cable to the BCC is connected.
