We bought through Mattress Insiders LLC on line. They will make the size you want. Then when you get it, it’s rolled tightly in a box. Drag it into the bedroom, cut the tape and presto, you unfold it. Very comfortable memory foam BUT NOT like the older memory foam that “sucked you in” and left a big impression. This one was $$.

Lifts

Huge consideration-

I have a big residential mattress and unfortunately the LIFTS/ jacks aren’t strong enough to hold it up. Bummer.

We just placed our new mattress in our new to us coach yesterday. Got it from Happy Traveler via Amazon. They have a lot of custom RV sizes to chose from and are made in TN. This is our second one from them, got the 12" this time and still squashes up under the wardrobe just fine. We got the narrow king to maintain the room around the side. It measures 70x80x12, comes in a box but sleeps Great.

We did that. Needed to restrict the mattress thickness to 8 inches due to slide. Sorry, I don't remember if hubby had to take the door off...But I know it went through the door.

We have a 2007 Bounder 35 and put a purple mattress in. Slides under the closet just fine. It did add weight. As full timers a comfortable mattress is imparative.

I’ve got a36’ Bounder also. Took the mattress out and put in my Queen sized sleep number. Piece of cake!

I also took out the sleeper sofa and put in Day bed with a trundle.

Ok,,
Faced this issue with our RV..
Your bed lifts to access the engine I gather?
[If not then all you may have to do is double up on the number of gas struts]
[You need to add make, year model & coach model to your "Tag line" this will help everyone who responds to your query knowing what exactly you have for an RV]

If you have a DP... You may be able to do what I did.
I installed electric actuators, one on each side of the Engine, mounted to the bolsters and to the existing engine cover/bed base.
I had to replace the one inch piano hinge with a three inch as the one inch was not strong enough.. in hind sight a two inch would have been easier to install and would have worked just as well...
I wired it up with a spring loaded up/off/down switch mounted on the foot of the bed /engine pedestal..
btw.. I replaced the existing residential Queen mattress with a true 50/50 split fully adjustable Queen.
Good Luck

If you live in or near a city of any size many of them have a local mattress factory that can pretty much make any size mattress you need. Good luck.

I just replaced the RV Queen mattress in our 1990 Fleetwood Southwind with a home sized Queen. I had to completely rebuild the storage platform as the RV size was smaller than the home sized mattress.

I also found that the RV mattress was heavier than the standard sized mattress that we replaced it with! That was probably offset by the extra wood I used to reframe the platform and dress it up with wood siding.

I have done this is the last two motorhomes. Because I sell Murphy Beds, I have access to wholesale mattresses, most in the 11-12" range, far superior to "luxury" 6" stock pieces. The first was a Hurricane that came with a short queen, so I added 6" to the bed platform. When I traded it, I offered to restore the stock piece but they wanted the thicker to stay. Currently, I have a 12" queen in the Bounder. The end needs to be squished a little when the slide comes it, but it is well worth the effort. And all-foam mattresses works better in this situation. The mattresses we use for the Murphy Beds are relatively light (65-70#) so no big consideration with the weight, but some memory foam mattresses weigh well over 100#.

We have a 2014 Bounder, 2 yrs ago replaced our queen short rv mattress w the SleepEz rv organic latex mattress, it came with foundation, all wrapped in a cotton envelope to keep mattress and base together, rolled up in a box. We took it out of box, left in its sealed package, laid it on foot of bed, took off plastic wrapper and unrolled it to head of bed..so easy! Fit perfectly! We had measured base of bed, sent to SleepEz, they made the bed and shipped to us. It has made a major difference in our sleep and comfort. Hubby a back sleeper, I sleep on my side . We told Sleepez this, they recommended a medium firm..and they were right! We don't need a mattress topper any longer, just a mattress cover to protect it.
