RV wall sconce replacement

We would like to replace our existing wall sconce in the Dinette wall and can not find one that we like which is 12volt. Does anyone know i you can use a 120 volt wall sconce to replace the existing 12volt? I read somewhere that the wiring would be the same (except that there is no ground wire to connect) and then to find a conversion adapter for the socket to accept a 12volt light bulb. Does that sound right?

That is correct.... except for the fact that one of the two "socket wires" will need to be connected to 12VDC power.... (and the other "socket wire" to ground).

Is that what the two wires from the RV wall are, one 12V and one ground? If so, which is which in color? And the 120 V fixture has a white, black, and ground, do I just use the black and ground to connect to the RV wires?

If the fixture you remove is a 12V fixture one of the two wires from the wall will be 12V and one will be ground.
You can use your multimeter to determine which is which.

Thank you woodchopper. You solved my problem. I'm looking forward to wiring our new fixture.
