Slide moves less than an inch coming in - 2006 Revolution 40 LE
When I try to retract the main slide, initially it just move about 1/4". I keep hitting the switch and after it has come in a bit it ten continues the rest of the way. It appears like once the slide comes up a bit and gets level it is fine, but the initial part of the movement, the slide is down a bit. This is my 1st big DP, so I am trying to learn the systems and idiosyncrasies. Any help and guidance is appreciated.

Are you running your main diesel when operating the slide? Is it level?

With engine running try hitting aux start button at same time try bring in slide. If it works you have low or bad batteries.

No. I had the switch on but didn't have the engine running. I will try that. I apologize to all that have responded for my delay. I forgot which group I had posted the question to so couldn't find the responses until just now. Plus, I have been away from my unit and not able to play with it. I will be taking it out if a few weeks for a long weekend in the Keys so will play with it then and give an update.

The engine should be running at high idle when moving the big slide.

The first few inches of travel, the slide has to “climb up” to get above the coach floor. Make sure to keep the slide components well lubricated and clean. The slide is also sensitive to how much weight you have on it. I replaced the couch/bed with six custom metal dog crates. I have to let the dogs out of the crates while I retract the slide that first few inches. I also replaced the motor several years ago.

ditto Boston Bernie
We had the same issue if we were unlevel. Keep the coach level when bringing in the slides and our problem went away. To be more specific, it appears to be mostly related to forward/aft pitch, oddly enough. They have always worked fine at normal idle, though, no need to throttle it up.

On my coach, the two small slides, curb side, will operate on battery only or with the engine running. FWS, street side, requires the engine running, and works best on high idle.
