Slide-out motor question

Naturally.....leaving on a trip this weekend and yesterday slide motor gearbox failed. Have one coming from Fleetwood so hopefully will have it Friday.

I have 4 slides and 3 of them are the same motor as the one that broke. My LR slide which is one of the large ones has a smaller motor and it moves really slow.
It makes no sense to me why there is a larger motor on the small bedroom slides than on a large slide up front.
The other large slide on the kitchen side has the same larger motor.

Hard to see in photos but LR slide motor looks about 25% smaller than the others.....just assuming smaller is less powerful. Cant read full part # as it is smudged.

Has anyone else noticed this? And also....has anyone else had a gearbox crack like this?

I've seen the gear boxes break due to loose mounting bolts, but can't tell from the picture if that was the case in your failure.

The actual size of the motor isn't the complete story, the amount of reduction provided by the gearing, more reduction = more torque on the output shaft.
The slower movement is an indication of more gear reduction.
The motor on my 14' slide is rated at 1/15 HP and does just fine.

Skip,

all four bolts were very tight so not sure what caused the cracks. The metal is cheap looking....I guess it's pot metal or something similar.

Did not think about the gearing but that makes sense and that's the reason it moves much slower than the other slides.

I did get the flashlight out and checked the three other gearboxes and did not see any developing cracks.....thank God

Thanks Skip for the reply
