Slide Out Roof
this may be a dumb question but I recently resealed my rubber roof on my 98 Dream, but I noticed the "roof" of my slide seemed real dry. Do I need to seal it too, or paint or something?
thanks for help.

Probably. If the main roof needed it, the slide may as well. It's the same material, and exposed to the same conditions whenever the slide is open.

The top of the slide is fiberglass, not EPDM like the main roof. They get real dry and dirty because most people don't clean and wax up there. Especially due to the slide awning ( I Assume yours has one as the Dream came with them). If it were mine I would clean it real well and see what kind of condition the fiberglass is in. You might get away with a good wax....and then keep up on it. You definitely can clean and coat it to be safe, but depending on what you used to coat the EPDM roof you may need a different coating for the fiberglass. Good Luck !

How do you give it a good cleaning with the slide toppers in place?

I use a step ladder and a brush with a pole. Still not real easy, but there is 4-6" between the slide and topper. I also use spray wax with a pole and mop head working from each side. The first time it took quite a while to clean and wax. Now, I can clean and wax it from the inside with the slide in.
Also, to the OP, my 99 Dream has a fiberglass roof on the top of the slide. Your '98 may be different.

Hmmm. The slides on my '04 Tradition have some sort of membrane on top; looks more like TPO than EPDM. Definitely not fiberglass. One of mine leaked at the edge seams (fixed with Eternabond).

Was your main roof Fiberglass or membrane ? My '99 Dream has an EPDM roof and fiberglass on top of slide, but a '99 Eagle has a full fiberglass roof. Not sure what they did on others years and or models.

Main roof is fiberglass; all three slides have a glued-down membrane of some sort.
