Slide topper seam unsewn

On my 16 Bounder 35k, the living rooms slide topper has become unsewn at the seam which attaches to rail (MH body) it is in the middle of about 3-4 feet worth. We are full timers and in between stops...the front of topper is almost touching the edge of roller the back side is about 3-4 inches away from the back..if I cut the topper on both sides-rail and roller tube would this be acceptable till we get to a more lengthy destination? Positive comments welcome...TIA

Had the same issue on one of mine. Turned out to be a bad spring inside the roller tube. Find someplace that can repair the roller rube, then buy and instal new awning fabeic.

Same problem on a 2016

Have Carefree slide toppers and about 6 weeks ago had the seam come out at the motor home side. Ours was the back 2 ft of the topper. Had not notice the problem until we closed the slide and noticed a bit of water on top of slide. It rolled up but was folded over on the tube. We opened slide and pulled the material not folded then closed it. Next we opened it it was ok not folded. So we watched when we closed since then . I would just be careful when you open and closed it. Also check the top of slide for debris. When your slide is good d the topper should travel ok. I would not cut it. When you get home there are several YouTube videos on fixing. I am now home and getting my topper re-read . There should be enough extra material on the rolled side to re see the topper.
Sounds like company used fractured guessing yours is same brand same age topper

If you cut it, you will have to replace the topper fabric rather than just re-sewing the seam. But if that's what you want to do... Just cut along the back edge and the fabric rolls up on the tube (quite quickly!).

It's not hard to remove the entire topper if you have a ladder, but having a friend helps. Maybe a neighbor camper?

Slide Topper

Just a heads up/follow up. We have finally gotten back to our winter destination, and have gotten our slide topper replaced. If ever in need of I found that StoneVos in Brooksville, Florida to be superb to do business with. Visited the shop to hands on/eyes on material and colors-gave them the measurements necessary and today had them install. What a world of difference from OEM stuff, and the personal touches they did-WOW, just WOW. One very satisfied customer......
