Cool Solar Panel

The Used Bounder we bought has a couple of solar panels, but not sure if they work. The sensor says light on only if accepting charge. What could be wrong with it?

This is a tough one, especially if the solar panels and controller were installed by the previous owner. Any sign of switches on either side of the controller (panel side or battery side) or the controller itself?

Do you have a voltmeter?

You might try looking at all the connections in the solar system, from the MC4 connectors on the roof to a junction box on the roof if there is one, then on both sides of the solar controller.

If there are not switches on the panel or battery side of the solar controller, there might be some kind of on/off switch on the controller. Usually there isn't, and a circuit breaker type switch on the battery side of the controller is used to power it up, then another switch on the panel side is closed to start delivering power. Usually there's a light on the controller that lights up when you energize it via the battery side switch.

Have you found the solar controller? It's possible there is not one but that would be unusual.

Some photos should help.

We are traveling for the next two weeks. We’ll end up in the Yuma area and we’ll follow your suggestions then!

Great.

There WAS a really good solar install/repair guy in Yuma. Now he only sells batteries and chargers (the last I knew). Larry at Starlight solar.
