The generator should easily handle a 13,500 BTU A/C, even a 15,000 BTU unit. You'll have to make sure your converter/charger isn't pulling full amps to charge batteries, and a soft start capacitor would really reduce start-up amp draw for the A/C, especially if you have the larger 15,000 BTU unit in mind to power. You'll also want to check your refrigerator heating element or turn fridge to LP gas only.

The Honda eu2000 has 13.3 amps available.

Its a 1600 watt generator with a 2000 watt surge rating, so you may be close to, or overloaded with a 15000 btu AC.

I haven't tried my AC on my eu2000 but I have seen it pull 15 amps thru a Kill-A-Watt meter. Newer ACs may be more efficient.

I would find a way to test run it on a hot day before buying it

Typically no, it's not enough power. A soft start kit in the air conditioner unit might help. I have a Champion 3100 inverter generator which runs one air conditioner just fine.

Southwind AC on Honda EU2000I

To run on a Honda 2000 you need the easy start device.

Watch the video.

The Micro Air device is $300. I'd rather save that money and add it to my generator budget. I would shop for one that will handle the AC, a few light duty devices, like the converter, and not have to run at full power.

Even the rooftop AC manufactures recommend a 3500 watt generators for one AC.

Not enough geny even with a soft start capacitor. Yes, it will run but add outside temps in the 80's or altitude above 5,000 ft. or both and it will not run the AC. Ask me how I know this???

My Honda 3000i will work hard to run one AC when I had my 5th wheel so I believe the 2k will be very hard pressed to do it. Currently we have a Southwind with a 5500 onan that will run both ACs without a problem .
