Do you know - everything work correctly before the blowout?
If so, it’s virtually impossible for the breaker to not kill either AC unit regardless of the power source. Both shore power and generator power connect to the breaker panel the same way.
It would surprise me if any control wiring between the AC units and thermostat would have gone through the wheel well. And if it did, it would likely only be for 1 unit, not both.
Follow your shore power tether - you will either have a transfer switch at the end of the tether, or, in order to use the generator, you have to plug the the ether into a plug for the generator.
If the tether goes straight to the transfer switch, then you will have a tether input to the xfer switch, and a conduit from the generator to the transfer switch.
The output from the xfer switch then feeds the breaker panel.
If no xfer switch, then the tether goes direct to the breaker panel.
The tether should go to only the NC contacts on the xfer switch, and the genset should only go to the NO contacts. (and I may have gotten that backwards - but you get the point).
Unless miswired in some way, breakers and/or fuses should always break the current path to whatever their load is when open.
