Southwind Update

Hi All
1997 34' Ford 460, 16 in wheels. Getting on to 40k, pull 1000 lb trailer with Dresser Harley. Looked at newer and better coach's but like what we have, take 12-16 trips a year ranging from weekends to 2 weeks.
Looking to replace and up date and was wondering what anyone else has done.
Boss has everything inside as her part,
My part are things like shocks, Bilstein, FSD's, air bags, brand names? yes, no? add a spring? Tires etc. Other ideas?
Would like a little less rock and roll if possible.

Number one for the old Ford chassis are the sway bar bushings. Inspect both the ends and where the bar is attached to the chassis. They take a beating and most folks find they are in poor shape or simply GONE. Next would be new shocks to keep things stable.

Since your coach is only 34' long, I'm guessing it does not have a tag axle in the back. The single rear axle Ford chassis benefit from a rear track bar to keep the rear axle stable side-to-side which also improves directional stabililty and less steering wheel corrections.
