Exclamation Southwinds windshield popped out!!!

So I crashed my lawn tractor into the front passenger side of my 2001 Southwind and ripped off the front right fiberglass from bumper up to windshield half way across to the middle of the coach. Being experienced at fixing stuff, I thought I would fix it myself. Everything lined up very close to original except the lower right windshield gasket had a gap that I could not close. Next 200 mile camping trip went fine. Today I pulled out of a parking lot and clipped the curb, causing the coach to rock a few times. Going very slow but the lower left and right sides of the windshield popped out about 1/2 inch, gasket and all. This is a two-piece windshield. Should I have replaced the entire front panel? Can I fill in with rivetted aluminum and fiberglass and keep driving? Is this thing safe to drive?

I know you want to do it yourself, but if the windshield falls out and harms another vehicle, or folds back into your lap while driving, it will cost far more than a professional repair. I would not, "fill in with riveted aluminum and fiberglass" and keep driving.

Thanks Bob, sorry for the delayed response. I did take your advise and called Progressive. They took care of everything, found me an excellent RV collision shop and $500 later all is well. Sometimes I need to stop myself and ask, "I can do this, but should I?

You ought to send a letter to Motorhome Magazine. The do a yearly editorial on stupid RV bloopers. This would definitely qualify. Crashing a mower into an RV and the windshield later popping out ?

Definitely a stupid blooper.
