Splendide not splendid

Came back to the MH after shopping for toilet parts yesterday and noted that the rear of the MH had turned into a water fall. Seems that the Splendide washer had developed a leak. If you had not had the opportunity to remove the washer dryer from its cubby hole then you are in for a treat. The washer dryer must weigh 500 pounds and there is a shelf that is about 12 inches above the floor so the problem was how to slide the 1000 pound unit out of the cubby. I used my ladder as a platform to slide the unit onto. It took the combined effor of the DW and myself to get the 1500 pound unit out of its hole. The Fleetwood people did not do their best work on this design. The washer should have been on a pan of some sort that drained to the outside instead of all over the carpet.

Once removed, I found that the water level sensor plug had come out of its hole. Not sure why. I also found a broken piece of the dryer fan motor inside the washer cabinet. Not sure how long it had been there. I am going to call Splendide tomorrow to see what happens to the motor with no cooling fan. The probability of me taking this thing out again to replace the motor is not good.

The other issue is that once this unit is out of cycle there seems to be no way to get it back into cycle. It literally took hours for the machine to reset itself and I still have no clue what sequence of turning it on, off and dial turning I did to get it going again. If anyone knows the secret decoder ring for getting it back into cycle please let me know.

This is my third water event of the season. Leaking shower and water heater hose blow out were the first two. Maybe the Fleetwood engineers should not use plastic fasteners that deteriorate with age and heat on a hot water tank.

Normally the Splendide techs are very good and should be able to help you out. We're on Spendide #2, excellent product. One suggestion...we had what I thought was a minor issue, and called the factory. The tech said I'd have to remove the unit, which appeared to be a worse job than yours...don't know how I could have even gotten it out. That didn't sound right, so I waited an hour and called back. This tech told me how I could fix out problem with a paper clip. So if you don't like the first tech's solution (or it makes no sense), wait a while and call back.

The Splendide reset instructions should be in the manual. You should not need a technician.

You might want to be proactive and change your plastic water heater hoses with braided ones. It will save you from the midnight water fall.

There is a lot of variety in washer installs, depending on floor plan and model. Coaches where the washer is standard often have a somewhat better set-up than those that have it as an option, but sometimes they just stick it wherever they can in the floor plan. As with most things in a motorhome, access for maintenance is way down the priority list, but higher end models tend to be better.
