Stablizer or Trac Bar...that's the question

Have a 2011 Bounder 35H M/H. Like a lot of front engine gas coaches I get a bit of the tail wag but also have, as Roadmaster describes it, the "Queen Mary" body roll effect. Looking for some input from those that have installed either (or both) devices and your satisfaction with the results...thanks

The first question I have for you is what tire pressure are you running? I have a 35 E and haven't had a need to add anything as my ride is more than acceptable. The second question I would ask you is if this is your first MH of this style? Some have difficulty at first as they do ride differently than a car or heavier Diesel. Tire pressure is vital for a good ride.

X2, on Cliff's advice, although my only experience with a 35 gasser was B-in-laws Tiffin on Workhorse w 22.5 tires and wheels, that had factory front and rear sway bars. Getting your weights, each corner and
getting tire pressures set properly is the first step to good ride/control.
Remember to get your weights in trip ready load, and download inflation chart from tire makers web page, adjust accordingly. Seat time will be the final check on if modifications are required. Safe Travels.

I have a 35E bounder on a Ford chassis and have installed the Hellwig rear aux sway bar and a Blue Ox rear track bar and it's worth ever penny I spent. Before the install I drove with both hands on the steering wheel and was being pushed all over when anything passed me, the bigger the truck the hard it was to keep it on the road, now I drive with one hand. If I had to say it took out about 90% of the push and wiggle plus driving in wind is so mush easier.

As Cliff stated; tire pressure can make all the difference in the handeling of your Bounder. I travel with 95psi and 100psi if heavily loaded.

The op posted last month that the dealer put almost max ( 110 ) pressure in his tires and he was going to adjust. Wonder if he has. My Bounder is loaded to 14,300 in rear and 7,000 in front. These weights call for 75 up front and 85 in rear. I keep a few lbs higher for good measure. Anything more will adversely affect the ride. See page 31 http://www.costco.com/Images/Content...1_RV_Guide.pdf

Check out the Ford Chassis Forum "Cheap Handling Fix". It's a free modification and most people report that it has significantly helped their roll/wallowing problem.

Cliff,

I find 75/85psi to be very unstable with a lot of roll. 90 front and 95 rear seem to be the minimum line of stability for my 2008 35e on a Ford chassis.

Hey Dude,
Best highway system in the world, (in the 60's); since then, too many folks immigrated from the east with "hot air" in their tires.
We use nitrogen out here to smooth out our LSD ride.

Peace out and now in a fox hole!

X2!!! I made this change prior to our last trip and it worked wonders for the ride comfort. BTW...this thread is quite long eith a lot of history. Pay no attention to the naysayers near the beginning and look at actual results.

Upgraded to the 19.5 toyos with the higher load rating. Weighed each corner and run 80 front 85 rear sure rides smoother than the 100 and 110! Installed the roadmaster sway bars and trac bar, what a difference! It was ok before but way better now! No white knuckles with my ride
