Bounder: STEP up and learn something

While adding a battery monitor (AiLi) I had to obviously disconnect my batteries to install the shunt After finishing the install I noticed my STEP would no longer work. The STEP button would light up when pressed, but that is only to keep the STEP deployed. I tried opening and closing the door. I tried turning batteries (main and aux) on and off. I tried turning the ignition on. Nothing.. it just didn’t work.

The fix was to START the engine! After doing that the STEP started working as normal.

So if you have a weird acting STEP, try starting the engine

I always get scared when things that ought not be related suddenly "fix" a problem. There is a connection between the step and the ignition key (an interlock), but you already tried the key on trick. Starting the engine? Pure magic!

Agreed, I figured just cycling the ignition key would have reset the interlock, but seems you have to actually start the engine.
