Surge Guard Finally Went Out

The 40250 Surge Guard model went out after a couple years of some pretty loud humming. Since that model is discontinued for a while now it looks like I will loose communication for the RJ11 data line that goes to the unit. Does anybody know where that line goes to and if its not connected will it affect anything? I'm wondering if it is part of the Precision Circuits power control system or not. I already have on order a stand alone surge protector so if the data port isn't needed then I will just go with a basic transfer switch. Otherwise I have a spare contactor for the unit so maybe that will get shore power back running... unit is a 2011 discovery 40G

Might it go to the display panel?
