Suspension and awning question '98 Bounder

I am looking to purchase a 1998 Fleetwood Bounder. I am concerned about the front suspension and that it sits rather low. I see that there are air bags in the springs. Could there be a problem with the springs or just the air pressure in the bags and how can one test the bag to be the correct pounds. Also the awning over the slide looks like it is deteriorating. Is the awning difficult to replace that?
Thanks for helping me.

Welcome to irv2. Awnings are easily replaced ( for those who learn how ) . I'm not familiar with air bags but it sounds like you'll have to have them checked out and possibly replaced.

You can replace just awning fabrics with whatever color and fabric type you want (for the most part.)

The bounder probably came without the air bags. People add them to soften the ride. They are checked like a tire . The pressure can vary from 10 to 70 lbs. Ask them where the air valve is. If you have a car tire gauge make sure it measures to at least 70 lbs.

First welcome to the forum, to answer your question requires me to ask a question. Is the Bounder a diesel unit? If it is, and if the chassis is a freightliner chassis, it came from the factory with air bags and the only thing you need to do is fire it up and make sure the suspension valve is set on the "Auto" setting (not the dump) and once air pressure builds up your air bags (both front and rear) will raise. If the unit isn't diesel, then as 3wheeljunkie stated they were an add-on and you need to do as he explained.

We bought ours four years ago and have been very happy with it, good luck on your RV journey.
