swap king for a queen bed in 2017 Bounder
As it is almost impossible to make up a king bed in the 2017 Bounder without bruising your hands, can the king be swapped for a queen which should allow more room to make up the bed

Bed Pedestal size
First thing to look at is the size of the pedestal under the bed. (what it sits on) Then just a new piece of luan or other thin plywood cut to size and a very expensive mattresses. Maybe you can find someone on line to swap.

Queen bed replacement
Bought my 2014 with king bed. Rubbed my butt too many time squeezing into bed. Out it went. King bed total waste of money.
Cut the platform or have someone reduce the width. Remove trim first. Match radius on corners and replace trim. Any competent carpenter can do this. On my platform panel closest to outside wall hardest to cut because I did not remove it first. Carpenter will need a router to make slot for the trim.
Total time 1 hour.
Install new mattress and you're done.
On the 2014, thickness of mattress could not exceed 7 inches since it squeezed under cabinet. Bought memory foam mattress.
Before making the change we had a difficult time finding the right thickness mattress with springs unless we settled for a cheap mattress.

I am trying to go from a KING down to a Queen for more space between the mattress and the walls when you are trying to make up the bed, not going from a queen to a king. also how do you get a king out of the motor home due to the size of mattress?
thanks

Rather than going to the Queen bed why not go to the narrow king bed? it is 6 inches narrower, if we were changing mattresses that is the way I'd go.

In my 35K I have a queen. But the cabinets and countertops on either side were right up against the bed so one could not make the bed without being a contortionist and many foul mouthed words every morning.
I did not need that awkward storage space on either side of the bed anyway so the cabinet on either side were taken out. I made some nice cedar counters (thinner than the solid surface tops that were there). The cedar was pretty close to the trim/wood in the room.
Now I can make the bed in no time.

That is exactly what I described for you. KING down to a QUEEN.
Instead of night stands I installed shelves in each corner. That's a QUEEN mattress.

thanks for all of the ideas from each of you,. you have given me more options and will check out the narrow king,
How do you get the original king out of the RV? Will it squeeze thru the front door?
thanks again to all

Rather than order a narrow king mattress, you could buy a stock king memory foam mattress to cut to any size you desire. I'll do this when we replace ours. Electric carving knife reportedly works great on foam.

We replaced our mattress in our new Disco. unfortunately we replaced it with a King size. So we have the same issues with changing the sheets. However, it is a very good mattress. The following is a link to the narrow king made by the same company as ours.

That mattress is 9" thick. It will not work in a Bounder 33C. The OP did not state which model Bounder so I'm just guessing.
