I have the same type mixing valve in my house on all sinks and showers as I have in my motorhome. I turn the cold water valve on, wait a second or two then slowly turn on the hot water valve. After a few seconds I stick my hand carefully into the water stream and make fine adjustments as needed to get the desired temperature of water.
I do this before jumping into the shower so I don't get that unwanted cold chill or the scalding effect. Surprisingly it has worked for me and all family members for years with no harmful effects. I guess sometimes you have to be smarter than the equipment you are operating.
Simple Huh?

That'll work, but not maybe if kids or older people who don't remember that well are concerned. Could lead to serious consequences I suppose, but its whatever floats YOUR boat.

I guess I should never let them take a shower in my house then, Right?

Well there is a reason why they make these things and install them and l suppose it would sheild them from the ridiculous lawsuits that the American courts hand out over peoples own stupidity.

Can anyone give me a clue as to how I get to the back of my hot water heater on my 1998 Fleetwood Flair Class A motor home. It appears to be sealed and it is below floor level. Do I have to remove the whole water heater?

Crawl under the coach and look behind the rear of the water heater. Most of the time Fleetwood made a cutout in the compartment and installed a metal access plate with two screws. Remove the two screws, drop the plate, and there you are.

water heater
Thank you so much, Ga Traveler. I will try what you say tomorrow and see if I can get to the back of the hot water heater. What a pleasure IRV2 Forums are for all RVers!

Even if you have to pull the heater out don't be scared to do so. It's pretty simple and straightforward. Takes only a few minutes to do it.
Have some caulking handy to reseal the heater to the body when putting the heater back in. This is available at most hardware or auto parts stores.
