Water heater won't stay lit

My water heater won't stay lit. I turn it on and the 'pilot out' light comes on.
Bad anode rod or something else?
97 bounder. TIA😁

We need more information than what you’ve given.

IF your water heater has an anode rod, that rod has nothing to do with heater operation.

What make and model of water heater is it?

Thermocoupler. Not sure on you model, but the water heater needs to read that the flame is on or it shuts gas off as a safety feature.
