What are Fleetwood Discovery users doing with...

On our 2013 Discovery 40G, there's a rather large fake storage compartment above and to the left of the driver's seat. The door to that compartment opens up to a gray board--literally nothing except maybe a piece of paper would fit in there.

For Discovery owners: what are you doing with that space, if anything? I thought about using it as a bulletin board of sorts.. menu, service reminders, etc. Post pictures if you found a creative use of that cabinet.

Also--has anyone taken that board off to see what's behind there?

Just curious!

Welcome to the Fleetwood Discovery's magic cabinet! Behind the cover are electrical components, including the A/C and heating thermostat sensor you will find on the back end of the cabinet - a poor location for the sensor because of heat build up.

Not much you can do with that space - they put it there to provide an aesthetic balance with the one on the passenger side, as well as hiding some electronics goodies in there.

You're very welcome...I'm always happy to jump in and check stuff out to see how it works - then hope I can put it all back together.

For what it's worth, our Revolution has the same cabinet.

Good thought Clay - my first instinct was to go down the dealer and trade in my 2012 for a new 2014 model so I could get the board! Wally World is a less expensive option. Not a bad idea to use it for a pre-departure checklist!

Have to admit I've departed without the electric being disconnected - but it was in front of our home. I had a 110VAC line for charging the batteries, and no damage done. I put a second extension cord in the line, figuring one day I'd forget, and it just disconnected as I pulled away.

Joe, what saved the day, I had an inexpensive 50 amp surge protector hooked to the pedestal. It took the most of the imposed trauma self destructing allowing the pedestal to stay intact only slightly bending the plug prongs! Made it back home, new 50 amp plug just money?
