What Is This ? Battery To Generator ?

'89 Fleetwood Tioga on a Ford chassis, V8 460.

Having issues getting the generator started. At one point I could get it to Crank but wouldn't turn over, and after tinkering on the house battery side, now I have NO power (no crank at all) going to the generator.

I'm curious if this may be the culprit, but I don't know quite what it is, and by default what to ask for or order to replace it.

Any thoughts, advice, input, and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It looks like a high amperage fuse or circuit breaker.

I would apply a 50/50 mixture of transmission fluid and acetone to it over a few days to clean up the terminals before trying to loosen the nuts up (a wire brush wouldn’t hurt either - just be sure to disconnect the battery + cable first!).

Have you measured it for voltage to ground on both terminals, or for voltage across the terminals to see if it’s open?

I did not test for voltage (yet).

The RV is in a remote location, I get to it sporadically, and spotted that gem as I was heading out. Figured I'd snap a couple of pics and try to find out what it is (and possibly have another one ready to swap out on my next trip).

Whatever it is, I'm thinking that whatever playing I did with the house battery made that fuse or relay or breaker (or whatever it is) trip.

Well, I will say it doesn’t look like the wire termination on the right side is fully crimped within the terminal. Maybe it’s the angle of the picture - but I would be surprised that connection held up very well for what the age of the coach appears to be.
