What type of gas you using??

I will be making a purchase on a gas RV very shortly. I am curious what type of gas all you "gassers" are putting in your tanks. Regular, mid, premium? I only put mid or premium in my truck. However, not sure of the recommendation of these Rv's.

I used regular 87 because my manual from Ford called for that. You should always do what the MFG recommends or better if you wish.

I've been running mid gets better milage and has more power, cost isn't that much different. 1995 f53 460 really see the difference on the hills.

Run what the manufacturer recommends. Any higher octane, and you're wasting your money.

x2 on pagasajoe. We live near a pair of refineries and all the gas stations within a hundred miles or so all get their gas from them. The only difference from tanker to tanker is the proprietary additive formula added in at the time the tanker is filled.

Our '02 V-10 and our '03 Kia Sedona have had regular from the time we bought them, mostly from Costco, a local tribal Chevron or Safeway.

I have used regular and premium in our 1987 MH on a P30 chassis with a 454. I get better mileage and power with the premium level of fuel. There is no pinging or other problems with regular, but I like the extra mileage and power. Is there a ROI? probably not, but the other factors make up for it.

87 octane, that's what my Ford owner's manual says to use. As pagosajoe stated you are probably just wasting your money on higher octane.

Filled with hi test one time because they were out of regular and selling at the same price, really no difference between the two of them going down the road that I could see or feel.

Any gas RV since about 1990 (and probably before that) is designed to run on unleaded regular. It's a standard automobile and light pick-up truck engine, either Ford or GM.

Despite what you may feel, there is no theoretical advantage in using a higher grade fuel. All you are doing is paying more for an attribute (anti-knock properties) that you don't need and cannot utilize because the compression ratio of the engine is fixed (higher compression is needed to extract more energy from mid-grade fuel). However, in some regions or some brands, the mid-grade may not contain ethanol while the regular grade does, so that would produce an energy and mpg difference in an engine designed for regular fuel. That difference is increasingly unavailable as the refineries now belnd ethanol in most everything is response to the federal "renewable fuels" mandate.
